About the event
The Shiawassee Conservation District is hosting an electronics waste recycling collection for all Shiawassee County residents. The collection will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, or until the collection containers are full. The event will be held on Chippewa Trail just north of VGs Grocery Store in Owosso.
Accepted items include broken or unwanted electronics, such as cell phones, DVD and VHS players, electric tools, computer components and accessories, and gaming units. Televisions and computer monitors will be accepted with a fee ranging from $5.00 to $20.00. Items that will NOT be accepted include batteries and media including VHS tapes, CD’s, floppy disks, and memory sticks. A more detailed list of accepted items is available here: Electronics Recycling
- The collection site is gated and secured to protect from data theft and escape of potentially harmful materials into the environment.
- Data on cell phones, copiers, and computers will be wiped and destroyed.
- All equipment collected will be recycled or destroyed in the U.S. in accordance with all local, state and federal guidelines, regulations and laws pertaining to the collection, transportation and recycling of electronic equipment.
